Angie Pais a.k.a. wancchie is an Indian multidisciplinary artist constructing her work around the ethos of shitposting, composed through their use of textile installation and alternative print media. Pairing found material, video, and synthetic collaging, e is interested in the translation of digital ephemerality into the physical space.
The work in vitro surveillance is a cluster of traceability. Users often overlook the finer details of their data, analogous to what fibres are to textiles as pixels are to screens. In this project, the viewer transitions from observer to surveillant, witnessing a scene where remnants of consumer culture are repurposed into a transient, provocative narrative. In vitro surveillance is a reflection on the pervasiveness embedded within our daily interactions, translating passive viewers into active participants in the definition of contemporary digital existence.
