Beck a.k.a. luc1city is a non-binary multimedia artist and lucid dreamer of over 17 years. They have a background in film and literature, but have recently turned their focus towards game design and interactive art. Their work is highly improvisational, often inspired by absurdism, wordplay, and magical realism – where capitalism and aspects of modern life are twisted into existential horror – and nightmarish creatures and fantastic landscapes become mundane.
Final_Final is a surreal virtual reality experience that creates a dialogue between video games and lucid dreaming. Walking on a tightrope in between the physical and the intangible, the game uses hand-tracking to allow the player to explore a VR environment surrounded by a series of linocut prints that act as a two-way mirror – physical art manifested in the digital world, and vice-versa. Final_Final plays with the glitches and instabilities in both technology and the human mind; designed to question our perception, and explore what it means to be in control.
